Freshman Peter Lipka (Shelton, CT/Shelton) led the Rams with 16 points, including 4-for-7 from three point range, in an 83-56 win over Skyline opponent Centenary College. Farmingdale State trailed 35-34 at the half, but used a 20-2 run to begin the second half and take a 19-point lead. The Rams shot 70-percent from behind the arc (7-for10) in the second, outscoring Centenary 49-21. Farmingdale improves to 8-5 overall and 5-0 in the Skyline. Centenary falls to 0-14, 0-8 Skyline. Farmingdale's Kenny McMillan (Bronx, NY/All Hallows) had the games only double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Freshman Brandon Nieves (Harlem, NY/All Hallows) scored 14 points for the Rams, while freshman Warren McAllister (Far Rockaway, NY/Far Rockaway) and senior Damien McKenzie (Lakeview, NY/Malverne) both posted 13 points. Junior Dashawn Warren (Astoria, NY/W.C. Bryant) led the team with six assists and also grabbed nine boards. Centenary senior Bryan Sherlock (Franklin, NJ/Walkill Valley) led the Cyclones with 17 points, five rebounds and two blocks. Junior Andre Harris (Morristown, NJ/Morristown) finished with 11 points.
Farmingdale State junior guard Dashawn Warren (Astoria, NY/W.C. Bryant) finished with a game high 25 points, including six three's with five coming in the first half. Warren also totaled seven boards, four assists, three steals and one block as he led the Rams to their sixth Skyline Conference victory over King's Point 74-56. The Rams improve to 9-5, 6-0 Skyline, while the Mariners fall to 7-7, 2-2 Skyline. Farmingdale State had three others in double-figures. Junior Kenny McMillan (Bronx, NY/All Hallows), who is currently 55 points away from his 1,000th point, finished with 12 points, three steals and three assists. Senior Damien McKenzie (Lakeview, NY/Malverne) and freshman Brandon Nieves (Harlem, NY/All Hallows) both chipped in 10 points for the Rams. The high scorer for Merchant Marine was junior Lou DeCarlo (York, PA/Trinity) with 10 points. Josh Buck (Warsaw, IN/Warsaw) grabbed a game-high 10 boards and sunk seven points. Junior Zach Wyatte (Camp Hill, PA/Trinity) finished with four blocks and eight points.
Farmingdale State Women's Basketball improved to 11-4 overall, 7-1 Skyline last night with a 59-50 win over Stevens (9-6, 2-2). The Rams 10-point lead at halftime was the deciding factor in the game after Stevens took the second half 27-26. Farmingdale's Sharon Billips (Brooklyn, NY/John Jay) led the scoring with 17, while Angela Williams (New York, NY/Murry Bergtraum) led the team in rebounding with 12. Jenea Lockley (Roslyn, NY/Roslyn) finished with 11 points, two blocks and eight rebounds for the Rams. Dora Enright led for Stevens with 12 points and 10 boards, while Jenna Gambino finished with 12 points and 9 rebounds.
Farmingdale State (12-4, 8-1) hosted Old Westbury (7-9, 3-4) in a Skyline Conference game today and came away with another victory, 82-35. Sharon Billips (Brooklyn, NY/John Jay) was the leader of four Rams who scored in double figures. She finished with 27 points, seven boards, five blocks and four assists. Farmingdale held a 20-point lead at the half, 36-16, and would outscore Old Westbury 25-7 in the 13 minutes of play. Junior Angela Williams (New York, NY/Murry Bergtraum) finished with 11 points, six rebounds and five blocks for the Rams. Sophomore Jenea Lockley (Roslyn, NY/Roslyn) had 10 points, five rebounds and five blocks, while freshman I'shawna West (Hempstead, NY/Hempstead) chipped in 10 points. Caress Lovelace (Brooklyn, NY/Benjamin Banneker) almost completed the double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds. Old Westbury's Christina Squillante (Levittown, NY/Division) led the team with nine points. She also blocked five shots and grabbed six rebounds. Kareemah Bennett (Brooklyn, NY/E. Brooklyn Congreg.) tallied a game-high 13 rebounds.
On his 19th birthday, Reuben Hairston (Freeport, NY/Freeport) set two personal bests after placing second in the long jump, 21' 11 3/4'' (6.70m) and 12th in the triple jump, 42' 6 1/2'' (12.97m). Reggie Routier (Amityville, NY/Freeport) finished with two personal bests of his own, placing 7th in the 55m hurdles in 8.75 and 11th in the triple jump in 42' 7 1/2" (12.99m). Also setting personal bests were Patric Santiago (Baldwin, NY/Baldwin) in the triple jump, 41' 5 1/4" (12.63), and Jason Hernandez's (Bay Shore, NY/St. Anthony's) 1:12.86 in the 500m run.
