The Farmingdale Swim Club (FSC) is having registration for its second session on Jan. 19, 2005, between the hours of 7-9 p.m., in the pool lobby of Farmingdale High School. Please bring your child in a swimsuit, ready to swim. Our goal is to place them in the appropriate program.

FSC is a swimming program open to boys and girls ages 7 - 18, who are interested in developing proper swimming and stroke techniques and skills. Our professional staff seeks to develop and improve athletic ability, while promoting self-esteem, self-confidence, team spirit and safety.

FSC offers three separate programs ranging from pre-team, for the novice swimmer, developmental, for the swimmer who needs to learn better technique, to an intensive team program, for the advanced, competitive swimmer. Every swimmer is evaluated and placed in the program appropriate to their individual ability and level.

Registration for the 2005 Farmingdale Baseball league (FBLI) season will take place on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005, 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Allen Park-Community Room. FBLI will have baseball leagues for children from the ages 6 to 16 and softball for ages 6 to 18. The youngest child eligible for our in-house programs must be born before July 31, 1999. A parent or guardian must be present to register the child. If the child being registered did not play during the 2004 season, a copy of the child's birth certificate must be submitted to the league at registration. For further information, call 249-7375 Monday through Thursday, 6:30-8 p.m. or visit www.fdalebaseball.com. The OTH Softball League is having open registration for new players wishing to sign up for the 2005 season. Registration will be held at Allen Park on Wednesday, Jan. 19 and Jan. 26 from 8-9 p.m. Registration can also be done via e-mail. To be eligible, you need to be 40-years-old (reached at any time during calendar year) and either a Town of Oyster Bay or Farmingdale resident. At some point in time you'll be asked to show proof of residency and age (i.e. a driver's license). Any previous year registrants who weren't selected will need to re-register to be eligible for the 2005 season. If registering online send your name, date of birth, home address, and telephone number w/area code to overthehillgang@optonline.net. Over the Hill is an arc-pitch (6-12') softball league that consists of 12 teams that play with rule modifications that are geared toward safety (double first-base, no sliding, etc.). The level of play is competitive and spirited. Games are nine innings long with a continuous batting order, free substitutions, and each at-bat begins with a 1-1 count. The league plays a 16-game schedule with a year-end charity tournament (minimum 3 games), which are played on Friday nights at 7, 8:20 or 9:40 p.m. at Allen Park on Motor Avenue in Farmingdale. St. Kilian CYO will be holding registration for their upcoming spring 2005 Boys Baseball season on Wednesday, Jan. 26 in the St. Kilian auditorium lobby from 7-9 p.m. Boys in grades 4-8 are invited to participate. The total cost due at the time of registration is $130. This fee includes $30 in pre-paid raffle books. The number of teams will be determined by overall enrollment in an age group.
