On Sunday, Dec. 12, members of the Long Island running community gathered at The Runner's Edge in Farmingdale to honor the memory of their friend Eunice Harris, who died of ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) on Sept. 30, for the drawing in a giant raffle to help raise funds to combat the disease that took Eunice away from us. A total of over $1,500 was raised.

Walter Colvin of Massapequa Park, one of the winners of the prizes in the Eunice Harris Memorial Raffle, is congratulated by Runner's Edge proprietor Bob Cook, Colin Harris and Nancy Cattabiani of the Runner's Edge.

In the words of Fred Haslett, President of the Eisenhower Park based - Long Island Road Runners Club, "Eunice Harris was loved by many. Starting out as a competitive runner, winning many, many awards along with her husband and best friend, Colin, she answered our call for help. Eunice loved Eisenhower Park, and she was so loved by the runners that it was not unusual for registrants to bring her flowers or a card just to say thanks for all she did, and what she meant to them."
