On Dec. 5, during a brunch banquette at the Crest Hollow Country Club, the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame gave high school athlete Nick Hecht scholar athlete honors.
Hecht was one of only 50 football players in all of Nassau County to receive this award. Nominated by his coach Buddy Krumenacker, this award is given to a starting player with the highest academic achievement. In addition to receiving an impressive plaque and medal, Hecht's name will be entered to a list of high school football players within computer kiosks located at the College Football Hall of Fame in South Bend Indiana. Hecht played fullback and defensive tackle for the Dalers this year who went on to win the Nassau Conference I Championship.
