Two weeks ago, the Farmingdale Columbus Day Fair was held in our village. I would like to thank the Farmingdale Fire Department for the terrific job they did in organizing and running the event.
Sunday's parade was one of the best attended in years. It was with great pride that I marched down Main Street watching all the parade goers enjoying themselves. The marching bands and Fire Departments certainly gave us something to cheer about. Chief Tortosa, the Fair/Parade Committee and all the Farmingdale Fire Department vollies deserve kudos for a job well done. Main Street and the Gazebo area were in all their fall glory thanks to Village Trustee Ted Dorfmeister and the Village Beautification Committee.
Special thanks are also in order for Fred Zamperelle and his Department of Public Works crew for their diligent work cleaning the street each night. While sending out thanks, we can't forget the Nassau County Police Department and our Auxiliary Police under the direction of Joann Edling for their traffic control.
As we head into the holiday season, I hope you will all remember to shop in our "town" and take advantage of all it has to offer you.
This Saturday is the Kiwanis Clubs "RAG- A- MUFFIN" parade. The parade, which starts at 1 p.m. at Northside Elementary School, marches south down Main Street, ending at the Village Green. We hope you will come out and take part in another one of our town's great traditions.
