I am pleased to introduce our new village update column. Its purpose is to keep everyone in the Farmingdale community abreast of what's going on in the Incorporated Village of Farmingdale.
Whether you live in South Farmingdale, North Massapequa, Massapequa Park, East Farmingdale or in the Village of Farmingdale itself, we are all one community. Our Main Street is everyone's. What happens affects all that come in to the village to shop, worship, conduct business, go to school and play sports.
I will use this column to communicate to residents, recent village board decisions, announce upcoming village meetings and give notice of upcoming village events. I will also notify you of new business openings in the village. With some of the finest restaurants in the area, local shops and businesses offering you personal services from fellow community residents, our village is an admirable destination point. Before you go to the big shopping mall, consider shopping locally in "town" first.
This weekend please be sure to come to our Columbus Day Fair, hosted by the Farmingdale Fire Department. The Fair takes place Friday through Monday. Carnival rides, games and food can be found in the parking area behind the Fire Department all weekend. On Sunday, the parade starts at 5 p.m. with fireworks at 10 p.m. Please come and join us for this wonderful fun event and see what makes our village so special.
