There's a new chapter in Farmingdale sports history being written every Sunday this fall at Woodward Parkway Field. It's the inaugural season of Farmingdale's PAL-NFL Flag Football League. Some 200 boys and girls are competing in four divisions, most playing organized football for the first time. After two weeks of play, everyone looks to be having fun and learning the game all at the same time. Here are some highlights from week two:

The Jets beat the Panthers 36-26. This was a hard fought and exciting game between two evenly matched teams. The Jets scored on their first play from scrimmage but were unable to covert the extra point. The Panthers came roaring back with a touchdown and a two-point conversion on their next possession. The teams continued to match each other's scoring efforts throughout the game until the Jets scored on their final two possessions to pull the game out.

One of the parents summed it up best, "This was a great game, all the kids had fun." Jet coaches Gene Gallagher, Kevin Moloney and Mike Psinakis were proud of the effort put forth by Jonathan Ascatigno, Matthew D'Antonio, Marc Dittmeier, Kevin Gallagher, Bryan Kaufman, Gregory Maghjakian, Christopher Moloney, Ryan Psinakis and Sean Timmons. The coaches also salute all the Panthers for their hard work and great effort.

The Jets beat the Panthers 20-14 in a very close, well-played game. Touchdowns for the Jets were scored by Zach Hirsh, Joe Edwards and Brian Mahon. Zach and Joe also had interceptions. Dan Rogers played very well at quarterback. Kristin Morrison did a great job rushing the quarterback. Overall, it was a great team effort Week three of the Farmingdale PAL-NFL Flag Football League saw many outstanding games in all the divisions. Here are some of the highlights from the action at Woodward Parkway Field: CJ and Jack scored their first touchdowns for the Peanut Giants on Sunday. Justin had an interception that the Giants were able to convert to touchdown on the next play from scrimmage. Joseph ran the ball in for his first touchdown of the season. It was a great team effort and the Giants best game yet.

The JV Bengals earned their first win of the young season on Sunday with a hard fought 6-0 win over the Cowboys. This game was scoreless for almost the entire contest with both teams playing tough, aggressive defense. Matt Ingordo came up with a big interception in the first half, while Brian Mazza made a diving flag grab late in the second half to save a touchdown. The only touchdown of the game came in the final minute. Vincent Mavaro handed off to Kyle Gary, Kyle then hit Vinnie with a short pass that he ran in from 50 yards out for the TD.

During week two, the Bengals lost to the Falcons, but Jen Sweeney had the play of the day for the Bengals. Jen took a handoff and raced the length of the field for a touchdown run. The Bengals are improving each week and look forward to the return of Denis Donovan who has been out with an injured ankle.
