The Farmingdale-Bethpage Historical Society will offer a walking tour on Sunday, Sept. 12, at 2 p.m. starting at the Village Green, next to Village Hall, 361 Main Street, Farmingdale. The theme of the walk will be "160 Years of Farmingdale Post Office Sites."
The Farmingdale Post Office, established in July 1845, is now in its 160th year of service to the community. A number of sites on Front Street and also Main Street have housed the post office over the years. These will be noted during this free walking tour of one of Long Island's most historic business districts. No advance registration is necessary.
Bill Johnston, historian of the Village of Farmingdale, will coordinate the walk. Call 249-3099 for further information. In the event of heavy rain, the walk will not be held.
