Food, fun, football - what more do you need? The Farmingdale Hawks Football and Cheerleading Association are once again planning their annual opening day festivities.

As in the past, they will parade down Main Street to kick off what promises to be a great season. The Hawks organization would like to invite all of Farmingdale to come to town and support their youth football team. Many residents were Hawks as children and have lots of fond memories playing or cheering with their friends. Anybody who is an alumni of the Farmingdale Hawks is invited to march with the organization in the parade. Contact Frank at 351-5124 for more information.

This year's registration was a huge success, with over 200 football players and 222 cheerleaders. The addition of an "All Star" cheerleading squad allowed the 14-year-olds to continue cheering. Football clinics, cheerleading competitions, an exciting senior trip, banquets and fund-raising events are all planned for this season.

The parade will begin at 10 a.m. on August 22 and will end at the Howitt football field with what all hope will be a fun-filled day. Applebee's will be on hand serving up some of the best burgers around. WBLI will also be in attendance entertaining with all the current tunes. Cheerleaders will be there to show their stuff. The boys will hold a scrimmage game at the event as well and games and all kinds of fun family activities will be available.

All are invited to mark their calendars for August 22 and show their support for the athletes of their community.
