Win at NYS Competition Sends Farmingdale Team to Canon Envirothon
While Long Island is known for its coastal waters, beaches and suburban lawns, the region now fields a winning team of environmental experts who are kids. A five-member group of students from Farmingdale High School, recently placed first in the New York State Envirothon at its two-day championship competition held at Morrisville State College, Farmingdale beat out other groups representing 52 counties from around the state by accumulating the most points overall. The team, representing both Nassau County as the Long Island Regional winner at the state level, now moves on to the Canon Envirothon in July.

Pops Concerts Under Way at Village Green
Mayor George Graf, Deputy Mayor Dr. Benjamin Giminaro and Trustees Thomas Langon and Joseph Rachiele were on hand to open the 2004 Farmingdale Village Summer Pops Concert series at the brand new Village Green Gazebo. Mayor Graf opened the program by thanking all the people who had contributed time, money and hard work to help bring the Gazebo to fruition. Next up was Gazebo Committee Chairman Ted Dorfmeister who also thanked everyone involved in the project. Mayor Graf and Dorfmeister together christened the Gazebo before the Farmingdale Village Pops under the direction of Brad DeMilo used the Gazebo for the first time. Hundreds of people enjoyed the evening of music. Trustee Rachiele read a brief history of music in Farmingdale during the intermission. Summer Pops Concerts will be held every Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. through August 11.

FBLI GreenDogs Win With Teamwork and Pride
Congratulations to the FBLI GreenDogs - Farmingdale Baseball League's 12-year-old Cooperstown Team. The GreenDogs utilized 15 talented baseball players to win two games, lose one and tie a lightning-shortened four-inning game. The GreenDogs banged out a superb victory on the Fourth of July and took first place, becoming this year's champions of the RYO Independence Day Tournament in Ronkonkoma.

FBLI 12-Year-Old 'GreenDogs' RYO Skill Competitions Winner
On July 4, after winning the RYO Championship game, teammate Jake Rachiele represented the FBLI 12-Year-Old 'GreenDogs' Tournament Team in three different skill competitions.
