Nassau County Legislator Dave Mejias, Nassau County Executive Thomas Suozzi and the Nassau County Department of Parks, Recreation and Museums, announce the Canon Noontime Concert Series at Eisenhower Park.
"There is nothing more relaxing than sitting in Eisenhower Park at noontime during the summer and enjoying some wonderful music," said Mejias. "The best part about it is - it's free!"
Each concert is two-hours long and will start at noon. The schedule is as follows:
July 14 Mary Lamont Band
July 21 Long Island Banjo
July 28 Sound on Sound
August 4 Plaza Productions: "My Way-A Tribute to Frank Sinatra"
August 11 Joe Kane's "Tribute to Benny Goodman"
August 18 George Anders Jazz Quartet
August 25 Six Gun-Country with a Kick
These concerts are completely free to the community thanks to the generosity of Canon U.S.A. The concerts are located in the shady vicinity next to Eisenhower Park's parking fields 6 and 6A. As there is no seating, it is recommended for residents to bring their own chairs, and it is required for one person per vehicle to present a Leisure Passport. There is possibility for change in all programs.
Eisenhower Park is in East Meadow; entrances are on Hempstead Turnpike at East Meadow Avenue, and at the intersection of Stewart and Merrick Avenues. Call 572-0200 weekdays during business hours for more information, or the "Concert line" at 572-0223, which, at all times of the day, gives a taped message about the shows.
