The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in Region 2 has received a letter of intent to apply for a Technical Assistance Grant at the Liberty Industrial Superfund Site from "Alliance for Stronger Communities, Inc." By law, only one grant for up to $50,000 may be awarded to a citizen's group at any one site on the National Priorities List. Because of this limitation and in order to ensure that all community views are represented in recipient groups, EPA encourages all citizens' groups interested in applying for a Technical Assistance Grant at the Liberty Industrial Superfund Site to consolidate with "Alliance for Stronger Communities, Inc." and file a joint application within 30 days from the date of this notice. Groups that wish to join with "Alliance for Stronger Communities, Inc." for the purpose of this grant application must notify:
Charles W. Gosline, Jr., executive director
Alliance for Stronger Communities, Inc.
226 B Main Street
Farmingdale, NY 11735
Groups wishing to file separate grant applicants must, within the next 30 days, submit to EPA a Letter of Intent to file an application, clearly identifying the site(s) for which they intend to submit an application. All applications must be filed within 60 days of today's date. Groups that require additional time to draft a letter of intent or to file an application may submit a written request for an extension of this time to EPA for consideration. Additional information may be obtained from Cecilia Echols, community involvement coordinator, USEPA, Region 2, Public Affairs Division, 290 Broadway, 26th Floor, NY, NY 10007, telephone 212-637-3678. Letter of Intent to apply for a Technical Assistance Grant for the Liberty Industrial Superfund Site, as well as grant applications, should be sent to: Ms. Carol Hemington, Grants and Contracts Management Grants, US EPA, Region 2, 290 Broadway, 27th Floor, NY, NY 10007-1866.
