This summer, Winning Beyond Winning invites residents to join them and some of their major league friends at Winning Beyond Winning's Summer 2004 Baseball Camp for boys and girls ages 8 through 13. The camp will be held at the Saltzman East Memorial Elementary School in Farmingdale, rain or shine, from July 12 through 16, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Meals are included (pizza, burgers, hot dogs, chicken fingers - different foods on different days), and participants will be provided with a Winning Beyond Winning shirt and cap and a water bottle, as well as with Rusty's "Bag of Training Tricks" - a jump rope and other items. Participants will also receive photos and autographs of all camp guests.
Campers will receive personal one on one instruction on hitting, pitching, fielding and baserunning. There will be games and guest speakers (instructors have included Yankee players Roy White, Phil Linz, Ryne Duren, John Blanchard, Frank Tepedino, Ross Mochitto and Joe Pepitone, and Mets Bud Harrelson, Al Jackson, Mookie Wilson and Art Shamsky, as well as Jim Mudcat Grand (Twins), Chuck Schilling (Red Sox), Dave Lemanczyk (Blue Jays), Bob Tufts (Royals) and Fred Valentine (Orioles).
Tuition is $295 for the week and discounts are available (take $20 off for the second child in same family, $10 off for WBW/PowerHouse camp alumni, $10 for Farmingdale Baseball League players). Parents should call Camp Director Tom Sabellico at 370-5535 for more information.
