On a night that many thought would be canceled due to the earlier downpour, park personnel were able to get the fields into playable condition so the league was able to dodge the bullet once again, only having one game canceled so far this year. Obviously Hampton Air East was happy that they played as they won their 2nd in a row, beating Bethpage PT 15-8. Winning pitcher Ron Schwabe helped his own cause by banging a bases loaded triple off the right center wall leading to a 5 RBI night. Not to be outdone, Tim Jones smacked his own bases clearing triple for 3 more RBIs, who also had help from Joe Bonnarrigo (2 RBIs), along with Butch Flecker, John Healy, Chris Theohrides, Tom Giorelle and Jerry Sutherland (1 RBI). Hampton Air had also had their defense in high gear as outfielders Andy Alesi, Chris Theohrides (with 2 each) and Billy Camacho made diving catches keeping BPT from putting up bigger numbers. In the game between Barco & Singletons, which would determine the American Division leader, Barco was unable to stop the steamrolling Singletons, as they remained undefeated at 7-0. The game started out crisply, with defense getting the better of the offense until Singletons finally broke the scoreless tie with 2 runs in the 3rd and 4 more in the 4th for a 6-0 lead. Barco fought back with a 2 out rally for 5 runs in the 6th before giving 1 back in the bottom half making it 7-5, each team then was only able to push across 1 more run apiece making the final score 8-6 in favor of Red. Both Gary Jambor & Frank Gordon deserve much credit for both pitching masterful games along with Singleton's Tommy Sorrentino's cannon throw in the 7th to 3rd to cut down the potential tying run to end the inning. Hitting stars for Red were Dennis Passaretti, Tommy Sorrentino, and Tom "Satch" Camarda, all with 3 big hits each. Adding two key hits were Richie Smindak, Gary Saccaro and Jack Howlett. For Barco, Kevin Moloney and Steve Schwind continue their clutch, hot hitting with 3-4 nights, which also had 2 hit games from Tony Falcone, Bill White, Dave Ringer and Gary Jambor. In the M&T/Synergy contest, Synergy used two big innings to knock off M&T 17-10. They put up 5 in the 1st and 10 in the 6th as the hitting was spread among those who showed. Among the big hits for Synergy was Bob "Moriarty" Ceriello's triple down the LF line and Bob Cruickshank's HR. Defensively, Bob Joyce woke from his nap in time to make a spectacular play at 2nd. Also for the victors, pitcher Dennis Oehl, Larry Lembo, Joe Lutz, Rich Dargie, Jim Doyle and Mike Maier had multiple hit nights. For M&T, Tom Arcuri (4-4) and Bernie Doherty (3-3) had perfect nights; also got 2 hit games from Vinny Cardulo and Brian Summut. For the 3 other games, no scores or highlights were provided.
