There was a packed house in the Howitt Middle School auditorium for the recent Farmingdale Board of Education Special Recognition Meeting, where the board joined the administration, as well as many friends and family members, in congratulating a legion of students and staff on a host of achievements.

Tracie Lin of Farmingdale High School received a rousing round of applause when she approached the stage. She scored 800 on the math section and 800 on the verbal section of the SATs; a perfect score, and an accomplishment she shares with less than 1,000 students in the entire country.

Among the Woodward Parkway students in the spotlight were Joshua Rubio, Thomas Zehentner, Thomas Dwyer, Kenneth Meyerhoff, Keith Albert, Antonio Smith, Victor Sanchez and Ashley Richards, who were congratulated for having their artwork appear in Joyce Raimondo's latest book. Three students were cited for their success in the U.S. Postal Service Stamp Contest, including Woodward Parkway's Michelle Duddy, Albany Avenue's Lexi Cates and Northside's Kelly Lyons.

A number of District musicians were saluted for their outstanding performances. Shannon Gryntsz, Allison Hantman, Megan Yelaney, Robby Harris, Michael Bayen, Jaclyn Bernstein, Greg Camerlengo and Jessica Carvo were named All-State Musicians, and 110 youngsters-an all-time district high-were named All-County.

Students weren't the only honorees. Albany Avenue teachers Lisa Dossiano, Patricia Murthy and JoAnn DeSimone were heralded for being named to Who's Who Among American Teachers. Christine Morvay was congratulated for becoming president of the Long Island Speech Language Hearing Association. Gerald Felker was lauded for his involvement with the International Trombone Association Journal.

Adult education note-worthies were teacher Paul Montenero and students Maria Manobianco, Florentine Cruz, Joel Sanguino and Mirna Hernandez. Finally, a nearly endless list of PTA Reflections winners was announced. They are listed below, by school:
