The Columbus Lodge #2143 announces fund-raising plans for their annual scholarship journal is underway. All proceeds from the journal provide the funds necessary to continue with the lodge's scholarship program. "Our scholarship journal is just another example of our commitment to the community," said Treasurer Ed Bochynski.
Each year the Columbus Lodge #2143 provides scholarships to graduating seniors who are enrolled in a college the following fall. Scholarships are given to students from Bethpage High School, Farmingdale High School, Massapequa High School, and Plainedge High School.
Local merchants, community leaders, friends and neighbors are encouraged to participate in this worthy fund-raising endeavor. "Do it for the children," said lodge member Anthony Curran. To sponsor a journal page, one may contact Scholarship Journal Chairman Pete Gisonda at 798-3972.
For almost 40-years the Columbus Lodge #2143 has been a community leader, whether it's by organizing blood drives for local hospitals, providing a meal for needy families during the holidays, or providing scholarships for our local graduating high school students.
