District Facilities Committee Continues Assessments
Last October a group of 32 volunteers - made up of community members and school district faculty members - were brought together with the help of Assistant Superintendent John Lorentz, and teamed up with Thomas Group architects to review the current status of district facilities and buildings and to establish priorities for building renovations and repairs.

Michael Carter of Jefferson HS in Dallas throws the high school boys shot put 81 feet, 3.5 inches at the 1979 Golden West Invitational. The feat is largely considered the greatest prep mark in history. Edwin Moses wins 122 consecutive races, including 107 finals. The streak lasts nine years, nine months and nine days. At the 1996 Olympics, Michael Johnson becomes the only man is history to win both the 200 and 400 meters at a single Olympic game. These three events, along with numerous more, are being submitted to USA Track and Field for consideration in the Top 25 Greatest Moments in the sport.

Columbus Lodge Launch Scholarship Journal
The Columbus Lodge #2143 announces fund-raising plans for their annual scholarship journal is underway. All proceeds from the journal provide the funds necessary to continue with the lodge's scholarship program. "Our scholarship journal is just another example of our commitment to the community," said Treasurer Ed Bochynski.
