NY Yankee First Base Coach Roy White will hold a charity fundraising event on February 5 in Great Neck. Proceeds will provide athletic scholarships for local graduating HS seniors.

Yankee first base coach Roy White, (your host), played his entire career with the New York Yankees and was a regular in the outfield from 1967-79. White was a 3-time American League all-star and a member of two World Series teams (1977 and 1978). Roy finished his career with a .271 batting average, with 1,803 hits, 160 homeruns and 758 RBIs.

The event will include an extended cocktail reception, autographs and photo opportunities, a chance to talk with your favorite athletes, a dinner and open bar all for $125 per person. For reservations, one may contact Vincent Annunziata, executive director of the Roy White Foundation, at 1-(718) 347-4777.

The mission of the Roy White Foundation is to help the youth of America fulfill their dreams and aspirations by providing financial assistance to those individuals who would like to attend college but do not have the financial resources to do so. Each year, the Foundation's goal is to provide scholarship to as many high school graduates as possible so that no student is denied the chance to further their education.

In addition, the Roy White Foundation helps educate student athletes on the importance of continuing and completing their education, so that they are well prepared to enter the business world or any other career path they will pursue. Last year the Roy White Foundation awarded scholarship grants to high school student athletes in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

Once again, members of the Columbus Lodge #2143 (CL) have reserved a table in support of the Roy White Foundation. "The date is already circled on my calendar," said Jeff Steinberg. According to Dave Saviano, some of the people he met at the last event included Ed Charles and Ed Kranepool ('69 Mets), Otis Anderson ('96 Super Bowl Giants), Bruce Harper (Jets), Joe Pepitone and Mickey Rivers (NY Yankees).

For over 40 years, the members of the Columbus Lodge #2143 have supported organizations that are dedicated toward helping others in need. According to Columbus Lodge Treasurer Ed Bochynski, the lodge's participation in this event is "just another tangible demonstration of our commitment to the community."

The Columbus Lodge #2143 is a not-for-profit fraternal organization and member of the Order Sons of Italy in America. The lodge offers its members various social and recreational activities, as well as community involvement. To become a member of this organization, one may contact Steve LaScala at 735-2535.
