Oyster Bay Receiver of Taxes James J. Stefanich wishes to notify town residents of the STAR Administrative Aid, which the Town of Oyster Bay will receive for the year 2003.

Stefanich received a letter from the New York State Office of Real Property Services, which identifies Oyster Bay's State Aid ($39,255.20) to assist the Office of Receiver of Taxes in covering costs associated with administering the School Tax Assessment Relief (STAR) program.

Of Oyster Bay's 101,000 plus parcels, 98,138 parcels are qualified to receive some form of STAR exemption.

Oyster Bay's STAR administrative aid is based on a rate of $.40 per exempt parcel. As in previous years, this payment is intended to cover costs incurred by the Receiver of Taxes in performing such STAR-related activities as receipt mailing, compliance with the Tax Payers' Bill of Rights, local outreach, complaint processing and correction of errors, additional staff time, supplies, equipment, office space and data processing services as needed for particular circumstances.

If you have questions regarding the STAR program, Receiver Stefanich recommends that you request an informative brochure from Oyster Bay's Public Information Office by calling 624-6380.
