Coaches and managers start the season early, usually around mid-March with player ratings. In one weekend, about 150 players gather at Howitt Middle School and are rated. This is when coaching strategy begins. Next comes the draft where managers and coaches handpick their teams in a draft. The manager and coach personally choose each player. Not an easy task by all means. The team is then assembled and off to practice they go. A few weeks later, the opening day festivities and its Baseball Season in Farmingdale.
Through the rainy 2003 season the Yankees played .500 baseball. Winning and losing about the same amount of games. Then it came down to playoffs and the World Series. The Yankees went into the playoffs and won five out of six games in the American League playoffs. It was then into the three-game World Series against the National League. The winner of two of the three games would be the Farmingdale Baseball Senior Boys Champs. With clutch hitting, outstanding fielding and superb pitching by everyone on the team the Yankees swept the first two games of the series to become the 2003 Farmingdale Baseball Boys Seniors World Series Champs!
