Farmingdale State Joins With Retired Firefighters for 9/11 Memorial Service
On September 6, the Long Island Association of New York City Retired Firefighters joined with Farmingdale State University of New York to hold a memorial ceremony honoring the 383 Long Islanders who perished in the tragic events of September 11, 2001. The ceremony was held on the Farmingdale State campus, on the lawn in front of the Horton Administration Building.

Columbus Lodge Reaches Final Four of NYC Mayor's Cup
Last weekend, the Columbus Lodge #2143 Golden Lions (GL) got off the A-train at Columbus Circle and entered Central Park in Manhattan to play in the semi-finals of the 8th annual New York City Mayor's Cup Softball Tournament. Only three weeks ago, the Golden Lions joined approximately 60 other teams throughout the New York City boroughs and emerged from the qualifying round as Queens Borough champions, with a chance to capture the coveted Mayor's Cup.

If you were a young adult in the late 60's - early 70's, it was always a thought in the back of your mind. Save some money. Get a van and fix it up. Gather your 8 tracks and cassettes and "go cross country." That's not exactly the way the 10 student-athletes from the Lady Daler Varsity Cross-Country team picture it. Their take is slightly different, as the cross-country venture they are undertaking starts with runs of twice a day, in excess of eight miles or more. Then it's hill running followed with interval running at quicker than race pace. Don't forget the form running coupled with some serious weight and nutrition training. Now, you're talking' about their kind of cross-country endeavor.
