Legislator Salvatore B. Pontillo is reminding all residents that October is breast cancer awareness month, and would like to announce that a number of mammography programs are available. Women who feel that they cannot afford a mammography are urged to call the Adelphi New York Statewide Breast Cancer toll free Hotline and Support Program at 800-877-8077. The hotline provides information about where to get a free or low cost mammogram and addresses any concerns women have about breast cancer. In addition, Legislator Pontillo arranges to have the NUMC's mammography van provide no-out-of-pocket cost mammography screenings several times a year for all women over the age of 40.
