Assemblyman Steve Labriola announced recently that he will be hosting an Emergency Preparedness Seminar on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. at the Farmingdale Village Fire Department, 361 Main Street. The seminar, presented by the Long Island Chapter of the American Red Cross, is designed to help families learn what to do in case of an emergency.

"The recent blackout is a perfect example of why this seminar is so important," said Labriola. "It will help families prepare for the unexpected. Whether it be a natural disaster like a flood, hurricane, or another devastating terrorist attack, like September 11, our community must be prepared for the worst."

According to Labriola, topics for discussion include:

* How to prepare for a natural emergency;

* How to assembly a disaster kit with supplies;

* Who to call in case of an emergency;

* Where to seek shelter and assistance;

* What dangers to avoid; and,

* How to care for your pets.

"Please join me at this seminar," said Labriola. "Learn how you can best protect your family in the event of an emergency."

This seminar is free and open to the public. For additional information, contact Assemblyman Labriola's district office at 844-0635.
