September 11 Memorial Services Planned
Oyster Bay Town Supervisor John Venditto announced that on Wednesday, Sept. 10, the Town of Oyster Bay will hold a memorial service in remembrance of all those who died on September 11, 2001. The memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. at John Burns Town Park on Merrick Road in Massapequa.

Six Additional Mosquito Pools Test Positive for WNV, First Two Human Cases Reported
The New York State Department of Health reported that six additional pools of mosquitoes in Nassau County have tested positive for West Nile Virus. This brings the total to seven pools. The mosquito pools were collected between Aug. 13 and Aug. 15 in the following locations: Old Westbury Gardens, East Meadow, Farmingdale and three in East Garden City. The prior pool was found July 31 in Bayville.

Columbus Lodge Golden Lions Select Award Winner
The Columbus Lodge #2143 softball committee announces that Farmingdale's Joe Pesale is the winner of this year's Joe Bermudez Award. The annual award is presented to the Columbus Lodge softball player who leads both on and off the field in their community.
