The Farmingdale Girls Softball entered the East Meadow Fast Pitch Tournament over the first two weeks of August in the 16 and under division.

The team was put together in under two weeks with the majority of the roster made up of 14 and 15 year olds. Farmingdale entered the tournament with only 12 players and was the youngest team to compete. Although going up against older, more experienced teams the Farmingdale girls played every inning to the max.

Farmingdale entered the playoffs as the fourth seed. They defeated Glen Oaks in the first round 14-5 and went on to meet North Bellmore/Merrick in the semifinals. Led by the strong pitching of Michelle Eifu, superb defense of Courtney Pure, Sookie Wientzen and the entire outfield, Farmingdale found themselves trailing 1-0 after five innings. In the bottom of the fifth inning the North Bellmore bats heated up and with a few well placed hits scored five times and went on to win 6-0. North Bellmore then went on to win the tournament championship defeating East Meadow 5-0.

Thanks go out to the "Dirty Dozen" for their commitment, hard work and great attitude throughout the tournament. Special thanks to Joe Bozzello for all his hard work behind the scenes and all the parents dealing with schedule changes.
