Blind Athlete Inspires Children of Camp Helen Keller
Accomplished athlete Peter Crowley, who successfully completed the first solo kayak crossing of the English Channel by a blind person this past June, shared his amazing experience with 12 visually impaired children from Camp Helen Keller, based on the grounds of Farmingdale State University. The group met at Heckscher State Park in East Islip where Crowley, together with three assistants, taught the children how to kayak. Crowley inspired the children with a discussion on the incredible potential life holds for those who set goals and aspire to accomplish them, despite their handicaps.

TOB Employee Resigns, Admits Accessing Disk
Frank Sammartano, administrative assistant to the Oyster Bay Town Board, resigned earlier this week after admitting that he accessed a computer disk containing a not yet released press advisory and circulated it without authorization. The disk belonged to Democratic Councilwoman Bonnie Eisler.

Columbus Lodge Outfielder Postpones Elbow Surgery
Stating the sixth Annual Arthritis Foundation Softball Challenge ("AFSC") was another good reason to postpone his elbow surgery, outfielder Jeff Steinberg will be in uniform tomorrow as the Columbus Lodge #2143 Golden Lions look to defend their championship title. "Some of them are medical but the biggest reason (to postpone the surgery) was my playoff games have all been delayed because of the lousy weather this spring," said Steinberg.
