Local Residents Invited to ‘Blow the Whistle on Asthma’
More than 24 million Americans have asthma and chances are that every individual knows at least one or two people who suffer from this epidemic. All local residents from Farmingdale and other neighboring communities are invited to join with their neighbors, family members and friends at the American Lung Association's "Blow the Whistle on Asthma" 5K Walk to be held this October. This walk is a nationwide effort to bring attention to and raise funds to battle asthma.

Sound of Music Opens at St. Kilian's With Resounding Success
The St. Kilian Players' performance of The Sound of Music opened last weekend and the production was a huge success. The play, which is produced by John Connolly and directed by Lynda Diurno, will also be featured this weekend in the air conditioned auditorium at St. Kilian Church. This weekend's performance dates and times are Friday, Aug. 1 and Saturday, Aug. 2 beginning at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 3 at 2 p.m.

Stephen Bongiorno from Farmingdale will join in the fight against cancer by riding in the Pan-Massachusetts Challenge (PMC), the nation's most successful charity cycling event, on Aug. 2 and 3.

FBLI 11-Year-Old - Green Tournament Team
Farmingdale 11-year-old Green Tournament Team players won two out of three skills competitions held at the R.Y.O. Tournament. Three players represented the Farmingdale Green Team in the skills competition held on July 5, immediately following the team's hard-fought fourth game. A total of 12 teams were represented in each of the tournament skill competition venues - throwing, batting and running.
