  • News: New Howitt Principal Has High Goals Set for September

    After completing his first successful term as principal of Howitt Middle School, Luis Pena is busy planning for September. Pena officially took the reins as Howitt principal in February (he shadowed the former principal since December), following the retirement of longtime principal Arleen Besner. With half a school year under his belt at Howitt, Pena is confident that the upcoming school year will be equally successful, even though it may present a few challenges, particularly the addition of the sixth-grade class.   • News: FHS Players Excel in World Lacrosse Championships

    Representing the United States team in the World Lacrosse Championships, played at Towson Stadium in Baltimore, MD, were three outstanding athletes from Farmingdale High School. Matt Danowski, Steve Panarelli and Krista Pellizzi represented our nation and were outstanding in the tournament, which was played June 26 to July 5. FULL STORY

  • Sports: Lady Riders and NY Jets Play in Celebrity Softball Game

    On June 9 players from the LI Lady Riders and the NY Jets left their soccer and football fields, respectively, to participate in a celebrity softball game against the team from Krispy Kreme, at the Mitchel Field Complex in Uniondale. The event was held to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island ("RMH"). Also taking part in the event were Farmingdale's Columbus Lodge #2143 and Computer Associates. FULL STORY

  • Sports: Farmingdale Residents, Businesses Invited to 18th Annual JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge

    Farmingdale residents and employees of local business are invited to join corporate executives across Long Island who are preparing now for their annual rite of summer. The 3.5 mile JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge (open to runners, walkers and joggers) will celebrate its 18th running at Jones Beach on Tuesday, July 29 beginning at 7 p.m. The race will benefit the Companions in Courage Foundation (CIC) and feature a special appearance by former New York Islanders' hockey standout Pat LaFontaine, who will be on hand to start the race, which begins and ends at Parking Field 5, near the intersection of Wantagh Parkway and Ocean Drive.
