More than 300 runners were on hand on South Oyster Bay Road in Hicksville on May 24 for the 11th annual "5K Run Day" to benefit Central Nassau Guidance and Counseling Services.

Donna McMahon of Farmingdale was the second woman finisher overall.

New Race Director Carl Grossbard welcomed most of Long Island's speediest runners to the starting line of the run, which this year is part of the 21 race KeySpan Grand Prix of Long Island road races conducted by Long Island Track and Field. In honor of the occasion, KeySpan donated $1,000 to Central Nassau.

Top local finishers included Donna McMahon of Farmingdale (second woman overall), age group selected finishers John Niesen of Massapequa Park, Mark Leff of Massapequa and John Stauber of Massapequa, and age group third place finisher Dan Cacace of Massapequa.

"Our congratulations to all the local runners who did so well in this year's Run Day," said Long Island Track and Field President Susan Polansky, "and our continuing thanks to KeySpan for supporting such important local races as Run Day and such important local charities as Central Nassau Guidance & Counseling Services."

Top two finishers Michael Anderson (third left) and Michael Guastella (third right) are congratulated by LITF President Susan Polansky, Barbara Bartell of Central Nassau Guidance and Counseling Services, Race Director Carl Grossbard and Phil Echevario of KeySpan.
