  • Sports: St. Kilian's CYO Swim Team Wins 2003 Division Championship

Farmingdale's St. Kilian's CYO swim team has won both the Dual Division B2 Championship as well as the Final Championship Meet. This Final Championship Meet was held at the Aquatics Center in Eisenhower Park. At this meet, all of the diocesan teams competed at the same time. Each diocesan team entered their fastest competitors. St. Kilian's team did an outstanding job in the individual events winning 11 gold medals and setting six CYO records. The St. Kilian's relay teams took first, second and third in every medley and every free relay in every age category over 8 years of age. Overall St. Kilian's team placed in 33 out of the 44 total events. The competition was fierce. From minute to minute a different team was ahead. The races were so close; some came within hundreds of a second. Every swimmer gave their all. Most of them broke their all time "personal best" record. Certainly every member of the team was instrumental and vital to the final conquest. One could imagine the exhilaration when the final announcement at the end of the championship meet was made "....and in first place is St. Kilian's swim team who has won the Championship Meet by one point."
