  • News: Board Candidates Discuss Goals, Views at PTA-Sponsored Forum

    Four candidates for the Farmingdale Board of Education gathered at Howitt Middle School on Monday evening for a candidate's forum sponsored by the Farmingdale Council of PTAs. The candidates were on hand to present their successes, reasons for wanting to be on the school board and to answer questions submitted by audience members. FULL STORY

  • News: Resident Among September 11 Memorial Design Finalists

    In an effort to memorialize those who perished as a result of the events of September 11, 2001, Nassau County Executive Thomas Suozzi announced last fall a contest open to all county residents in which they could submit a design for a Nassau County 9/11 memorial to be built in Eisenhower Park. The county executive was joined by the families of the victims of September 11 and members of the 9/11 Memorial Project Committee on May 5 to announce the three finalists. Among them was Farmingdale Deputy Village Historian Daniel Looney, who designed a possible memorial site together with his colleague Kenneth Kunken and designer Anna Blazejczyk. The other two finalists were Keith Striga of Striga G.A. Architects and Frank Esposito. FULL STORY

    The classic serve. A solid return. The perfect backhand. A powerful slam. Throw in the finesse of the timely drop shot and that sums up the Daler Varsity Boys Tennis team during any given practice or league play. Under the watchful eyes of Coach Jill Little and Coach Ortiz, 14 student athletes make up the 2003 varsity squad. "We are a very young team," Coach Little noted, "but all of the team members have shown dedication, determination and a 'no fear' attitude when playing against teams that are markedly better than we are." This positive attitude is what makes this team work. There is a sense of watching out for each other. "But the best part," she commented," is they all have a great time no matter what kind of situation they are placed in." FULL STORY

  • Sports: Kelly Green Fifth Grade PAL Lacrosse Girls Get First Win to Celebrate Mother's Day

    After opening the season with two hard-fought losses the Kelly Green Farmingdale PAL Fifth Grade girl's team, coached by Keith Murphy and Lou Cardillo, won their first game of the season 10-6 against Mineola. The victory came due to a great effort by all the girls. FULL STORY
