Mother Nature teased us again this past week giving us some rain, but we were able to get the games in. An early game victor this week was again the sizzling Synergy team, smoking Barco 23-3.

How different can a team be from one year to the next? The former Morgan B boys are showing signs of returning to the form of past years by getting off to a 2 - 0 start this young season. Could it be the addition of rookie sensation Dennis Oehl, or maybe the gray hair and scars of some of the older players in the league belie the "mature" experience and talent that took a hiatus last year? Whatever it is, Synergy has scored 61 runs in their first two games and seem to have every bat cranking, including Oehl (HR) and Joe Lutz who were both 5 - 5. Not to be overlooked were Larry Lembo (4 - 4), Rich Dargie, Bob Cruickshank, Mike Mormino and Mike Maier (all with three hits).

On the Barco (0 - 2) side, the only good things to occur were Dave Ringer's four bagger and the fact that no one got hurt.

O'Shea's was the other early winner, beating Changing Times 20 - 9, evening both their records at 1 - 1. A special welcome back goes out to CT's John Falbo, who has returned from a two-year stint on the IR (medical) and is playing great ball.

J-2 edged out Mers 7 - 6, also evening both their records at 1 - 1.

The other middle game had Darien Press improving to 2 - 0 with an 11 - 10 win over Bar Boy (0 - 2). Tom "T" Ball knocked in three runs and made several sliding catches to back Kris Solberg's outstanding pitching. Jerry Mazza, Rich D'Amico, Joe Manning (all 3 - 4), John DeFalco (two hits, two RBIs) and Joe Algerio (2 - 2) all had clutch hits for Darien in their come-from-behind win.

The late game had M&T winning their first game with a 12 - 6 victory over Bethpage PT (0 - 2). There were many hitting stars for M&T Friday, starting with Nat Corrao, who had (two) two-run HRs and Rich Peccia who added a three-run HR and five RBIs. Other M&T contributors include Tom Arcuri, Brian Lyons with three hits and Vin Cardulo, Sal Detroia, Mark Lubowsky, Rich McClorey with two hits. In spite of the wind, Lubowsky pitched a whale of a game. The Bethpage PT team, who hung tough till M&T opened it up, played tough defense, with the IF turning a DP and the OF adding two assists at second and home. Leading the offense were Steve Pares who went 3 - 3 in his league debut, John Cernuto (two hits, RBI), Manny Asta (triple, two RBIs) and John Leone (double, two RBIs).

No results were passed along on the Singleton's - Moby game.
