Fangs for The Memories
Four decades worth of Farmingdale High School alumni recently returned to their alma mater to see the student production of Dracula and to celebrate the accomplishments of 35-year veteran drama teacher Kenneth Ulric. At a ribbon-cutting ceremony prior to the opening curtain, the 860-seat auditorium - recently outfitted with all new seats, walls, acoustics, rugs and lighting - was rededicated to Ulric's honor, as proud alumni, family and friends look on.

Supermarket Reps Attend CCAF Meeting
Representatives from Stop & Shop said three traffic studies for a proposed supermarket at the former Liberty Industrial Site at the Main Street-Motor Avenue intersection showed that after some road adjustments are made, the store would be a perfect fit for Farmingdale. However, more than 30 residents in attendance at the March 25 Concerned Citizens Association of Farmingdale (CCAF) meeting heavily opposed the idea, saying that traffic and pedestrian concerns were not sufficiently addressed, and other options for the site should be considered.

Sixth Annual GLIRC Trail Relays: A True LI 'Mudfest'
There was mud, there was now, there was ice and there was groundwater - everything needed for some of the worst conditions possible for running on the trails on Sunday morning, March 9. Notwithstanding the mess, 87 teams of three runners each showed up at Bethpage State Park to slosh and slog through two miles of trails to the new and improved finish line.

Resident to Be Inducted into National Wrestling Hall of Fame
The Friends of Long Island Wrestling, the local representative to the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in Stillwater, OK recently announced that Farmingdale resident Irv Apgar is one of three Long Island residents to be joining a number of elite wrestling coaches who have been recognized by the National Wrestling Hall of Fame for outstanding accomplishments in serving the youth of Long Island.
