Farmingdale Lobbying Committee Discusses State Budget in Albany
The Farmingdale Lobbying Committee recently took a trip to Albany to discuss a number of elements in Governor Pataki's proposed budget that will significantly impact school districts. Foremost on this agenda is the reinstatement of lost state aid. In the governor's proposed budget, the Farmingdale school district will lose 17 percent of its state aid, more than $3.2 million. This aid must be fully restored in order to preserve academic programs. Another key issue is the inclusion of a regional cost factor in the operating aid formula. The cost of living on Long Island is substantially higher than in many other regions of the state.

Farmingdale Post Office Honors Residents in Recognition of Women's History Month
The Farmingdale Post Office honored four individuals last weekend during a special ceremony held at the Farmingdale Public Library. In honor of Women's History Month, the post office planned this event to celebrate women who have made significant contributions to society through their personal and professional endeavors. The four women honored were Christine Cervasio, Dorothy Oxendine, Nancy White and Maura Wolowski.

jbusanni, inc., located on Central Avenue in Bethpage, has signed on once again to be a major contributing sponsor of the 12th annual Nick Katsounis Memorial 10 Kilometer Wheelchair Championship Race, which will be held on the Bethpage State Parkway on Sunday, June 29. The race will start and finish at Ellsworth Allen Town Park in Farmingdale.

Varsity Bowling Team Wins Conference Championship
After only four years of existence, and two years after finishing dead last in Conference III, the Farmingdale High School Boys Varsity Bowling Team dominated all teams in their way en route to their first conference championship. Farmingdale defeated rivals Plainview JFK and Bethpage in several crucial matches in the final two weeks of the season to complete their championship winning season.
