Oyster Bay Town Supervisor John Venditto announced that a new, town-sponsored senior softball team, the Jaguars, will be joining the three existing town senior softball teams, the Pirates, Tigers and Lions, for the 2003 season, which begins in April. All four teams are members of the Long Island Senior Softball Association.

"During their inaugural season, the Jaguars will be practicing and playing their home games at Plainview-Old Bethpage Community Park and Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park in Oyster Bay," Venditto said. "The Jaguars' opponents will include the three other town-sponsored teams, as well as other senior softball teams in the Long Island Senior Softball Association.

"Our senior softball teams are spectator favorites," Venditto noted. "Team members, all town residents age 60 and older, play a lengthy season from April through November, and their games are extremely exciting. Friends, relatives and passers-by get very involved in cheering their favorite team."

According to Venditto, the Pirates play their home games at John J. Burns Town Park in Massapequa, while the Tigers and Lions call Ellsworth W. Allen Town Park in Farmingdale home.
