  • News: Farmingdale Faces Proposed Cuts in State Aid

    The Farmingdale Board of Education, district administrators and the Farmingdale Lobbying Committee recently met with Senator Charles J. Fuschillo Jr. and Assemblyman Steven Labriola to discuss the impact of educational budget cuts on Farmingdale Schools. District and community representatives voiced their concerns about Governor Pataki's proposed budget, which promises significant decreases in state and BOCES aid to school districts in general, and Farmingdale in particular. Under the governor's proposed budget, Farmingdale Schools will lose 17 percent of its state aid, a cut of more than $3 million. FULL STORY

  • News: New South Farmingdale Water District Superintendent Takes Office

    Bier began his career with the water district in 1974, starting as a water plant attendant, where he was involved in general water plant maintenance. He took several water operator courses and was subsequently certified at various operator levels through a licensing process overseen by the Department of Health. As his career progressed, Bier was promoted through the ranks to water servicer, water plant operator and water servicer operator until 1989, when be became water servicer supervisor, a post he held until Jan. 1 of this year when he took over as superintendent, succeeding Al Licci.

  • Sports: Town Sponsors New Senior Softball Team

    Oyster Bay Town Supervisor John Venditto announced that a new, town-sponsored senior softball team, the Jaguars, will be joining the three existing town senior softball teams, the Pirates, Tigers and Lions, for the 2003 season, which begins in April. All four teams are members of the Long Island Senior Softball Association. FULL STORY

  • Sports: Hawks Registration This Month

    The Farmingdale Hawks will have a second set of registrations on Friday and Saturday, March 21 and 22 at the Howitt cafeteria. Times on Friday are 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration fee is still $85 for boys and girls ages 5-14.
