The Ronald McDonald House of Long Island is looking for youth and adult men's basketball teams of all ages to participate in a 3-3 basketball tournament, which will be held on May 31 at Cantaigue Park in Hicksville. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Ronald McDonald House ("RMH"). Ronald McDonald will be on hand performing a magic show for the siblings.

At the last 3-3 basketball tournament held by the RMH, (max. 6-players per team), the winning teams from each age category had the opportunity to meet against former NBA star Chris Mullin. Once again, the Ronald McDonald House is in the process of securing celebrity athletes for this year's wining teams to meet.

In addition to the basketball tournament, a co-ed adult volleyball tournament will be held, also on May 31, with the winning team returning in June to play against a celebrity team. Last year, players from the NY Jets and NY Powers, along with rappers Shaggie and LL Cool J, were among the celebrities at the event.

Because availability to participate in these tournaments is limited, all teams will be selected on a first come first serve basis. For more information on participating in the basketball or co-ed volleyball event, one may telephone Executive Director Silvana Gullo at 775-5683.

The Ronald McDonald House of Long Island is a not-for-profit organization that provides a temporary facility for seriously ill children and their families who must travel to area hospitals for urgently needed medical care. These families stay at the House while their child is under a physician's care. Since opening its doors in 1986, the New Hyde Park based facility has served almost 7,000 families.
