The Sons of Italy-Columbus Lodge #2143 Nominating Committee chairman Paul Calissi announced, at a recent meeting, that current President Anthony Ragno has been selected by the committee as their choice to return for a second term as president of the lodge. The selection of Ragno was unopposed by the membership.

In addition to President Ragno's re-election, Joe Carbone returns as First Vice President, Sal Patrone as Second Vice President and Mike Bonavia as Oritor. Other officers selected by the committee are Recording Secretary Anthony Ventiera, Financial Secretary Frank Tiscione, Corresponding Secretary Anthony Capogna, and Treasurer Ed Bochynski Jr.

In addition, the 2002-03 Columbus Lodge Trustees will be: Sonny Bove, Lou Carbone, Tony Casella, Pete Gisonda, Steve LaScalla, George Lauro, Tony Romeo, Al D'Ulisse, and David Walsh; Masters of Ceremony: Ed Bader, Frank Beltrani, Bill Iannone, Dominick LaScalla, Donald Visconti; and Sentinals: Ed Esposito and Joe Casalino. Installation of the new officers will take place on March 2.

Other OSIA News: Each year the Columbus Lodge gives scholarships to graduating high school seniors from Bethpage H.S., Farmingdale H.S., Massapequa H.S. and Plainedge H.S., at various academic levels who will be enrolled in a college program the following fall. To fund the scholarship program the lodge publishes a scholarship journal.
