The Farmingdale Titans Youth Football and Cheerleading celebrated the 2002 season with their Spirit Awards Night held at the Stuart Thomas Manor on Jan. 24. More than 320 children, parents and friends attended the celebration and helped applaud the football players and cheerleaders as they received their trophies and medals recognizing their efforts and sportsmanship during the 2002 season.
The Titans' distinguished civic leaders and sponsors were also recognized for their continued support with special thanks to Oyster Bay Town Supervisor John Venditto, Councilman Joe Muscarella, Legislator Sal Pontillo, Mayor Joseph Trudden, Lou Bonnanzio, Suffolk County PAL and Adam Brown, defensive coach at Hofstra University.
Special thanks also goes to Bill Meilink, president of Farmingdale Youth Council and Frank Nocerino, president of Friends of Farmingdale Athletics. Inspiration and guidance and warm thanks go to Head Coach Kathleen Hanson and Coach Stephanie Capogna of the Farmingdale High School Dalerettes, Rose Celentano, Varsity Cheerleading Coach, Farmingdale High School and Buddy Krumenacker, Head Football Coach, Farmingdale High School. Coach Krumenacker gave an especially heartwarming speech about playing and sportsmanship and asked all the players and cheerleaders to remember to say thank you to anyone who is special to them, whether it be at home, in school or at the field.
Thank you again to everyone and the Titans look forward to another fun and safe season in 2003.
