  • News: Peace Convoy Spreads Word About Bishops' Doubts on Iraq War

    As the possible start of a war on Iraq draws closer, a group of peace activists for the second time this month will be visiting parishes in Nassau County, including St. Kilian Church in Farmingdale. The purpose of the event, which will be held on Saturday, Jan. 25, is to remind parishioners and priests that the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has overwhelmingly approved a statement asking President George W. Bush to "step back from the brink of war" against Iraq. FULL STORY

  • Sports: Farmingdale Riptide Division 2 Champs

    Farmingdale Riptide, coached by Ray Sherman and Luigi Cardillo, took first place in the LIJ Soccer U-16 Division 2, posting a 7-2 record. The Riptide players demonstrated good team play, hard work and gave it their best effort every Sunday. Their efforts propelled them to beat the top teams in their Division 2 bracket. Keeping with tradition, the Riptide defense led by Mike Hillier, Brian Eyester, Billy Hickling and Andrew Kromholz was a force to be reckoned with. The team posted three shutouts and allowed only 1.2 goals per game. The team offense raised their game to a higher level this season with the addition of hard working striker, Keith Viscuse. The Riptide offense played consistently all season generating many opportunities and scored timely goals to put games in the win column. The team scored just under three goals per game. Great team effort to all the Riptide players on both sides of the ball, defense and offense. Thanks to all the parents for their constant positive and enthusiastic support every Sunday. FULL STORY

    The Farmingdale Titans Youth Football and Cheerleading is proud to announce their player registration dates for the 2003 season. Please mark your calendars for Saturday, Feb. 8 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday, March 7 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, March 8, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registration will take place at the Howitt Jr. High School East Cafeteria. A pre-registration will also be held during the Titans Spirit Awards night on Friday, Jan. 24 at 7 p.m. at the Stuart Thomas Manor. FULL STORY
