Farmingdale High School athletes Carly Shanahan, Shannon Degnan, Krystal Cantos and Caitlin Morrison, scored as the first place team in the high school girls division in the 10th annual edition of Rob's Run, a 3.7 mile cross country race held on the trails in and around Syosset's Stillwell Woods Town Park on Dec. 1.
Shanahan crossed the finish line in 25 minutes, 4 seconds; Degnan in 26:04, Cantos in 28:10 and Morrison in 28:58.
Rob's Run was once again sponsored by Long Island Blood Services and administered by the Greater Long Island Running Club. Run Co-Directors Steve Klemes and Ed Melnik worked very hard to assure the success of this individual team competition that has become Long Island's premier cross country event.
As in the past, the 2002 edition of Rob's Run was dedicated to the memory of Rob Lauterborn, an extraordinary human being, talented runner and good friend, who was taken from us at far too young an age. The net proceeds of Rob's Run will once again be turned over to the ASPIRE Program for the rehabilitation of young amputees, victims of bone cancer and traumatic amputations.
