Resident Launches 'Operation Teddy'
Levittown resident Eileen Kostolni wanted to make a difference this year in the lives of children and families who are in local hospitals and shelters during the holiday season. In years past, she and her two children would collect some stuffed animals and bring them to a local hospital on Christmas Eve. This year Kostolni is asking residents throughout Nassau County to join in the effort to make a child's holiday season brighter with a new stuffed animal.
Senate to Pass Senator Fuschillo Legislation for .08 BAC in New York State
Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. announced this week that the Senate will act later this month on his legislation to reduce the state's legal limit for blood alcohol content (BAC) to be charged with DWI to .08, and separate measures that would put in place stronger criminal penalties against repeat drunk drivers and drivers with very high blood alcohol levels.
Columbus Lodge Remembers 9-11 Children During Holidays
On Sunday, Dec. 15, the Columbus Lodge #2143, will hold their annual Children's Holiday Party. The events has sing-a-longs with the children, dancing, holiday music, face painting, clowns, various characters (last year Big Bird and Elmo paid a visit), lunch for the children and a visit from Santa Clause who will provide each child with a present.
8-Year-Old Hawks Win Turkey Bowl
The Hawks 8-year-olds traveled to Brentwood to play in their annual Turkey Bowl game. The Hawks started with the ball, but couldn't move the ball until Tori Penn took an end-around and went 60 yards for the first score. The Hawks tried for a two-point conversion by Casey Gordon, with Tyler Ward holding. The kick was perfect and the score was 8-0. Brentwood came back and scored two touchdowns and kicked one two-point conversion to take a 14-8 halftime lead.
