New York State Commits to Increase Organ Donation
To assist the thousands of New Yorkers in dire need of an organ for transplantation, Senator Kemp Hannon, Assemblyman James Conte and State Department of Motor Vehicles Commissioner Raymond P. Martinez gathered at the Farmingdale Public Library last month to announce a $250,000 appropriation to increase organ and tissue donation and also commemorate the recent signing of the Gift of Life Donor Medal bill into law.

Winning Beyond Winning to Host Fifth Annual Winners' Circle Awards Dinner
Winning Beyond Winning of Farmingdale will host its Fifth Annual Winners' Circle Awards Dinner on Thursday, Nov. 21 at Chateau Briand in Westbury. A reception, where guests can mingle with professional athletes, will begin at 6 p.m. Dinner will be served at 7:15 p.m. Dress for the event is business attire.

Thompson & Brandenburg Receive FBLI's Fusaro Award
Farmingdale Baseball League (FBLI) named Robert Thompson of North Massapequa and Jeremy Brandenburg also of North Massapequa the 2002 recipients of the Thomas Fusaro Memorial Sportsmanship Award. The award is given annually to an adult volunteer and a youngster playing in the league who exhibits the highest quality of sportsmanship. The award was established to honor Mr. Fusaro's years of service to the youth of Farmingdale and perpetuate his memory. Tom was a lifelong resident of Farmingdale, who passed away in 2000. He served as FBLI's treasurer, and was a team manager and coach for many years. Mr. Thompson, the adult winner, is a long time manager and coach in the league and was chosen for his commitment and dedication to the children. He also coaches youth basketball and football, is a YES board member and the co-founder of the Farmingdale Titans Football League. On receiving the award, Mr. Thompson said, "Tom was a warm, funny and genuinely caring person, giving countless hours of his time to our children, I am truly honored to receive this award in his honor."
