Lofty goals had been set. The pressure was on. Not only from their opponents, but also from within. The Farmingdale Rebels, a girl's U9 soccer team, had other things on their minds aside from winning, Goal number one. Avenge an earlier loss to a tough team from Dix Hills. Goal number two. Win a third consecutive championship at the Columbus weekend tournament, thus becoming the first team from Farmingdale to three-peat at a particular venue. The bar had been set. What time was it?" It was Go time. Huntington was the sight of the Labor Day tournament. Two games on Saturday were handled rather routinely as the Rebels won both games defeating teams from Deer Park and Elwood. Sunday was the test. Dix Hills had come to play but so had the Rebels. it was a very exciting and well-played game. A tight match until the end when the Rebels exploded for two goals winning the game 2-0. Northport was next. They gave us quite a battle, but the team rose to the occasion, winning the game 1-0. the Rebels had won their very first Labor Day tournament. Goal number one was complete. The Columbus weekend tournament was next. Teams from Patchogue, New Hyde Park and West Islip would succumb to the Rebels onslaught. Scoring a total of 10 goals while giving up only one ensured the Rebels their third straight championship at the East Islip event. The three-peat was on and goal number two had also been accomplished.

Kaitlin (stonewall) Gaghan had played the majority of goal and was at her very best, making very tough saves when the team needed her. Caitlin (scooter) Milana, owned the right side of the field and piled up many assists with her excellent passing. Julie (the blonde bomber) Teller, rained shots on opposing goalies from all over the field and scored often. Samantha (Lefty) Kender, played some of her very best soccer. She was strong on defense and from a half-back position. Heather (buzzaw) Magro, sliced through opposing defenses. She is very exciting to watch and is one of the team's sparkplugs. She scored often and electrified the crowd. Amanda (bonecrusher) Rutig, was dazzling again from her forward position. She also contributed with a goal. Lauren (Hollywood) Lorthioir, scored her very first tournament goal. All involved are very proud of her. Megan (lightning) Sullivan played very strong games and is now a multi-positional player. Denise (Hurricane) Dessel, was outstanding from many different positions. She will be counted on in the future to continue to produce. Keeping the ball out of the middle and getting it up to the wings was expertly handled by Allison (sunshine) Hausmann. Samantha (the stealth) Duranti, quietly does her job with great effectiveness. She isn't fast, she isn't flashy, she just gets the job done. She is counted on at whatever position she plays. Nicole (giggles) Scimeca, has the speed to play any position. She often stopped opponent rushes and also pressured opponent goaltenders. Nicole's star is also rising. Sam (Rocket) Galatioto contributes on defense and offense. She is counted on heavily by her team. Rookie sensation Colleen (Red) Patterson made major contributions and looks like she will fit in nicely with the team. The coaching staff is very proud of all the girls.
