But it wasn't until 1983 that Daniel became known for his great skills as a baker. A very creative soul who never stopped coming up with new ideas, new cakes, new pastries, pleasing his loyal customers was part of his daily routine. Now his son Daniel P. Daniel found a job a Greenwood Bakery in Richmond Hill after he arrived in 1980 and from there to LI where he became very successful running D'Luque's Bakery I and II.

"My father was a man of strong convictions," Danny Jr. said. "He felt life had a lot to offer him on a spiritual level and was committed to his family as well as to his business."

A sailor in Uruguay's Merchant Marine from 1943 through 1953, Daniel Sr. loved to go out on his boat. He enjoyed listening to classical music very much or watching a soccer game. He attended service at St. Kilian's RC Church in Farmingdale. Besides his son Danny Jr., he is survived by his wife Delia A. Fallini Luque, his daughter Virginia Luque Campos; three grandsons, Xavier, Nicolas and Sebastian; a sister Libertad Matosas and a brother Elbio Luque, both from Paysandu, Uruguay.
