Senator Charles Fuschillo announced recently the establishment of a SUNY Maritime Cadet Appointment Program which will provide full, four-year tuition scholarships for cadets appointed to the State University of New York Maritime College, the oldest maritime school in the nation.

Students interested in applying for appointment must:

* Be a United States citizen and have lived in New York for one year

* Be a high school graduate

* Demonstrate evidence of academic excellence

* Demonstrate evidence of leadership skills through extracurricular activities and school/community involvement

* Meet the college's general admission requirements and participate in the Regiment of Cadets and License Program.
