Community Raises Money to Build 9/11 Monument
In an effort to help raise funds for the Farmingdale Community Summit Council, which is erecting the "Farmingdale Remembers Its Communities' Heroes" monument on the grounds of the Farmingdale Public Library to honor all local heroes connected to the September 11 tragedy, residents from all over the community have been purchasing World Trade Center commemorative pieces, equipped with a candle holder, from a local resident. Mary Ellen Hribok, who was looking for a way to help the Summit Council in their efforts to raise the necessary funds to build and install the monument, noticed a metal World Trade Center commemorative candle holder/figure and called the company who distributes the pieces. Much to her surprise, Hribok learned that the company, which she found out was F&M Precise Metals, was located in Farmingdale.

No-Cost Breast Cancer Screening Day at Farmingdale Library
Senator Charles J. Fuschillo Jr. is hosting his annual Farmingdale no-cost breast cancer screening day at the Farmingdale Library in cooperation with the Nassau Health Care Corporation. The screening will be on Thursday, Oct. 17 during the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.

Statesmen Capture Senior Softball World Championships
The New York Statesmen senior softball team, based out of Farmingdale and run by player/manager Sam Sapienza, captured the Seventh Annual Senior Softball Players Association World Championships in Dallas, TX the weekend of Sept. 13 through 15.

Columbus Lodge's Italian Feast and Festival This Sunday
The Sons of Italy-Columbus Lodge #2143 President Tony Ragno announced the Sixth Annual Italian Feast and Festival will be held on Sunday, Sept. 29 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on North Broadway in North Massapequa, just south of the Southern State and just north of Jerusalem Avenue. The Columbus Lodge #2143, in conjunction with the Township of Oyster Bay, is presenting the festival, for the enjoyment of the community, all with an Italian atmosphere.
