Born on May 29, 1908, in Scranton, PA, the son of Joseph S. and Alice (Burns) Waite. He married Marion Phyfe on Nov. 25, 1938 in Schenectady. She predeceased him April 22, 2000. He graduated from the school of Architecture University of PA. He spent one year traveling around Europe and lived in Majorca for three years. He attended Pratt Institute and Columbia University where he received his MS degree and teaching certification. From 1940-1945 he was director of art for the East Greenbush Central School District. From 1945 to 1946 he was director of technical education for day students and adult evening school in Elmira. From 1946-1965 he was director of construction technology at the SUNY Farmingdale where he retired as professor emeritus. From 1966 to 1988 he pursued his career as an architect. In 1988 he retired from his professional career. He is survived by his stepson and daughter Robert Phyfe Madden, Kathleen Delapp; a son, Richard J. Waite; and his sister Mary Rushmore.
