Helen Caroline Contessa of Bethpage died on Aug. 27, 2002. Wife of Bernard W, mother of Leonard (Diane) and Joan Reid (Joseph), grandmother of Brian, Elizabeth, Gregory and Edward. The family was cared for by the Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Home, Levittown. Mass was at St. Martin of Tours RC Church, Bethpage. Interment, Calverton National Cemetery. Vincenzo DiCiero of Farmingdale died on Aug. 26, 2002. Husband of Carmela, father of Vincent, Rita, Anna and Nicky, brother of Nicondro, Mario, Maria Francesca, Josephine Lurtini and the late John DiCiero, grandfather of 12. A Funeral Mass was held on Thursday, Aug. 29 at St. Kilian RC Church, with interment following in the Cemetery of the Holy Rood. Donations in Vincenzo's memory may be sent to Hospice Care Network (900 Merchants Concourse, Westbury, NY 11590). Arrangements were entrusted to the Arthur F. White Funeral Home. Anthony Rifici died on Aug. 28, 2002. Husband of Emily, father of Robert Rifici and Gloria Calvanico, grandfather of four, and great-grandfather of three. Predeceased in 1975 by his beloved wife, Rita. A Funeral Mass was held on Aug. 30 at St. Kilian RC Church, with interment following in St. Charles Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the Arthur F. White Funeral Home, Inc. Marie T. Phillips of Levittown died on Aug. 30, 2002. Mother of Judy Fox, Patrick Wall, William Wall and James Wall. Sister of Jean Bertha, grandmother of nine and great-grandmother of seven. A Funeral Mass was at St. Martin of Tours RC Church with private cremation following. Arrangements were entrusted to the Arthur F. White Funeral Home, Inc. Ada R. Titterton of Farmingdale died on Sept. 1, 2002. Predeceased in 1998 by her husband, George. Mother of George, Eileen Carbery, Edith McMullen, Ann Keen, John, Paul and Ada Sullivan. Grandmother of 30 and great-grandmother of 55. Dedicated parishioner of St. Kilian RC Church and the women's Club of Farmingdale. Lindsey W. LeVien, 89, formerly of Northport, died in Danbury, CT on Sept. 1, 2002. WWII US Army Air Force veteran, retired auditor of Chase Manhattan Bank. Husband of Ruth, father of Lance A. LeVien, Denise Lawrence and Helen F. Dallow, brother of Arthur LeVien, Dorothy Renner (of Farmingdale) and Betty Roberto. Cherished uncle of many nieces and nephews. A Religious service was held at the Arthur F. White Funeral Home, with interment following in Calverton National Cemetery. Margaret R. Garcia of Castle Rock, Co, died on Sept. 2, 2002. Wife of the late Michael A, mother of Madeline Arroyo. Also survived by many other loving family members and friends. Funeral Mass was held at St. James RC Church. Husband of Maryann, father and father-in-law of Thomas Jr. and Linda and Roy. Brother of Anthony Jr. and Frank. Grandfather of Shannon, Casey and Thomas III. Matthes of Farmingdale died on Sept. 8, 2002. Formerly employed by the Town of Oyster Bay. Husband of Helen, father and father-in-law of Albert and Jeanne and Susan and the Honorable Angelo Mauceri. Grandfather of Celia, Scott and Kelly. Funeral Mass was held at St. Kilian RC Church. Interment in Calverton National Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to McCourt & Trudden Funeral Home, Inc., Farmingdale. Stephen Ciganoc of Uniondale died on Sept. 9, 2002. Brother, uncle and friend to many. Funeral Mass was held at St. James RC Church. Interment St. Charles Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to McCourt & Trudden Funeral Home, Inc. Maria Acquista of South Farmingdale died on Sept. 9 2002. Wife of the late John, mother and mother-in-law of Maria and Nicholas Manobianco. Grandmother of Steven and John and great-grandmother of six grandsons. Funeral Mass was held at St. Kilian RC Church. Interment at St. Charles Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to McCourt & Trudden Funeral Home, Inc., Farmingdale Donald E. Waite, 94, died Sept. 13, 2002. Born on May 29, 1908, in Scranton, PA, the son of Joseph S. and Alice (Burns) Waite. He married Marion Phyfe on Nov. 25, 1938 in Schenectady. She predeceased him April 22, 2000. He graduated from the school of Architecture University of PA. He spent one year traveling around Europe and lived in Majorca for three years. He attended Pratt Institute and Columbia University where he received his MS degree and teaching certification. From 1940-1945 he was director of art for the East Greenbush Central School District. From 1945 to 1946 he was director of technical education for day students and adult evening school in Elmira. From 1946-1965 he was director of construction technology at the SUNY Farmingdale where he retired as professor emeritus. From 1966 to 1988 he pursued his career as an architect. In 1988 he retired from his professional career. He is survived by his stepson and daughter Robert Phyfe Madden, Kathleen Delapp; a son, Richard J. Waite; and his sister Mary Rushmore. Memorial contributions may be made to the Medical Center at Long Lake in care of the Fortune-Keough Runnell Funeral Home Inc. of Tupper Lake, NY.
