  • News: Farmingdale Hosts 'Clean Water' Celebration

    Local residents gathered at the new Community Center at Allen Park last weekend to celebrate the victory of the Town of Oyster Bay's attainment of an approximate 15 acres of the Liberty Industrial Superfund Site. The celebration, which was organized by a member of the Concerned Citizens Association of Farmingdale (CCAF), included representatives from several local organizations, including the CCAF and, the community's website. Also on hand were Oyster Bay Town Supervisor John Venditto, CCAF President Michael Grello, Executive Director of the Long Island Drinking Water Coalition Joe Lorintz, President of the Friends of Massapequa Preserve Richard Schary, a representative from SHARED (South Huntington Alliance for Responsible Energy Development) and a representative from the Neighborhood Network.   • Sports: Local Runners, Walkers and Wheelchair Racers Invited to 'Fly With the ANGELS' Four-Mile Run

    Farmingdale and Massapequa runners, walkers and wheelchair athletes of all ages and levels of ability are invited to sign up for the third annual "Fly with the ANGELS" four-mile run on Saturday, Oct. 12, which this year will for the first time be held in the friendly confines of Eisenhower Park.   • Sports: The Yankees Score for Success

    On July 20, a team of 12-year-old baseball players from Farmingdale, Massapequa, Massapequa Park and Wantagh traveled to Cooperstown to participate in skill competitions and a tournament. With only the two previous baseball games under their hat as the St. Killian's Yankees, the players were able to post a tournament record of five and two. This outstanding record can be attributed to the motivational talks and coaching skills of Dave Critelli, Bruce Burnett and George O'Malley. Each received a commemorative ring for their hard earned work and inspiration for their great play from Dave Lemanczyk, former major league pitcher, with whom they posed for a picture. FULL STORY
