A ceremony that evening is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at the Farmingdale Public Library on Merritts Road in Farmingdale. During the ceremony, a sketch of the monument will be unveiled to residents and the site in which the structure will eventually call its home will be dedicated.

A rendering of the September 11 monument will be unveiled on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at the Farmingdale Library.

The monument will stand four feet high by four feet wide and will feature an engraved New York City skyline including the Twin Towers. Words including "Farmingdale Remembers its Communities' Heroes" will be etched below the skyline. The actual structure will be placed north of the entrance at the Farmingdale Library once completed.

The Farmingdale Community Summit will provide money for the monument and will have its name displayed on the base of the structure. According to Summit Chairman Tom Sabellico, the Summit has more than half of the funds earmarked for the structure and hopes to raise the remaining funds soon.

At the ceremony, residents and officials will gather to honor and remember those who perished on September 11, 2001. In addition, there will be patriotic musical selections performed by students of the Farmingdale School District.
